I am looking at buying between a 40 to 50 inch wide screen flat panel television and would like to know the following differences between plasma and LCD:
-cost
-performance (longevity, clarity, gaming hook ups)
-track records (proven to last)
-weight (will it be able to hang on the wall with out major damage)
-best brands for plasma and LCD
-stores with the best deals
-do you recommend getting the extended warranty
-do you recommend getting the set up (I think it is a rip but want to know how easy each of them are to set up and hang on the wall)
-best for gaming.
I will be using this TV for gaming and watching sports and am looking for something that will show the details. I also would like something that would last longer since I will be spending a lot of money on it. Thanks in advance for all the help.

We have left regular cathode tube TVs there for years, but we need a new tv and I wanted to get LCD or Plasma.

I am totally confused! I thought that the LCD was supposed to be the clearer one but my son bought a plasma at the same time that I bought a LCD and his picture is much more clear than mine(he has subscribed to HD cable I’ve yet to sign up) Is it the HD cable that makes the difference? I would really like to know the difference between the two sets.

I’m planning on purchasing a 50″ plasma (Samsung 5064), but I’ve heard that plasma’s are not as good for gaming systems (xbox 360). Will the 5064 plasma with 720p and 15000:1 not do the job as well as a lcd?
Thanks for the help so far, but does anyone know anything about “lag” (not internet lag) that happens on bigger screens? Is a plasma more susceptible to that?

I want to buy a new tv but im slightly confused about which to get? What are the advantages of an LCD to a Plasma? The plasmas seem cheaper than LCDs so does this mean LCDS are now better? HElP!

We are looking at either 32, 37 or 42 inch plasma or lcd tv’s. Normally we watch tv at night so which type of tv would have a better picture quality at night. Can anyone recommend some good models?
