Very unusual to see one as crudely assembled. I’m guessing they were trying to find the cheapest way to build one.

hmm, seems like youre LCD television might of been a counterfeit chineas model. i used to record my videos with a counterfeit camra, it lasted about 2 years ,and when i took it apart i found masking tape on some of the wiers and components
great video!! good work!!
This was back before the days of diffusers! One or two tubes can now replace all of those.
same as most Chinese shit lol
If you can find out what those inverter boards need voltage wise, that should throw some serious light.
Maybe that you can use that Back Light to make an x-ray photo viewer
) or a drawing table where you can copy drawings.
Nice video ! It does remind me at the DIY projector project on youtube. Several friends of mine made that DIY projector and it works great, if you got the right screen.
Chimei PC Monitors are getting popular where i am
More cold cathodes for more brightness!
Laptops have only one for the reasons of lower power consumption and size requirements, but as you’ve probably noticed with manyof them, their screens don’t go as bright as an LCD monitor or TV does.
Most computer monitors I’ve seen had 4 cold cathodes in them.
Of course, the TV is much bigger.
if nothing else you should keep the speakers if it even has them still. and keep the backlight parts as they can be made into a cool desk light. KipKay did that with a flatbed scanner and made a desk light out of it. where is the audio amp in this TV is it in the PCB and integrated? id love to tear down one of these TVs but not if they work. I may have one coming.
I would like to see that CCFL going, probably a analog/PWM signal and a digital signal (0 or 5V most likely) Nothing you can’t find at the PSU.
The PSU will probably need a logic signal to start (the standby supply may provide it)
that light will be really bright if you can hook it up
Very interesting, what do those “newer” lcds and plasma’s have in them anyways? they seem alot more boring component wise. as opposed to the older tvs
lol
all those wires have quick disconnect connectors you have to press down and pull the wires at the same time it should relise if not you might need a small screw driver to undo them
try and see if you can power up the cc tubes
Very interesting unit that one!
Very poorly put together, But dam thats alot of cold cathodes.
cool. interesting. that was a mongrel TV lmao. id like to see how much light you can get out of the back light.
