Need help in deciding on buying PS3 and HDTV?
I’m on a tight budget but not too tight. I was wondering if I need to buy the 250gb or is 120 gb slim enough? I’ll use it for both gaming and watching movies mostly. How much GB does a typical game consume anyway? I want to buy the 120gb provided that it is a sufficient amount of space for my needs. If not then I’ll have to get the 250gb model.
Now on the HDTV, im planning 32 inch. The question is 720p or 1080p? I’ve read on reviews that 1080p does not matter on 55 inches and lower HDTVs. And one other factor aside from price is that i’ve read that most ps3 games are not 1080p just upscaled to 1080p (was that right?).

doesn’t matter on size you can get a new 500gb hard drive for round $100 to $200 or less and depends on wear you are at the moment in Australia Sony are doing a deal by a hd TV and get a free ps3 and also 1080P is the best with blue-ray and hd gaming
120 gb is plenty unless you are going to be downloading loads and loads of content such as lots of movies, games, demos, all that extra stuff. Id get the 120, because even if you run out of room, you can simply upgrade your hard drive for less than paying the extra money for the 250 gb.
Also, if you want to play games in 1080p you have to buy the HD cord for the ps3, its not included. Once you get that though you will be playing in 1080p
120gb is good for most users.
anything 720p or over will look great.
most games are upscaled, but they still look good
About which model to get:
I would get the 120gb model. If you’re on a tight budget I wouldn’t pay extra for the 250gb model. You can rent movies off of the PlayStationStore, so that the movies won’t be saved onto the HDD, but when you watch it, it dissappears because it’s a rental. A typical game takes up around 1-2GBs. I think the 120gb model will fit your needs, unless you get addicted the PlayStationStore and go download everything you see. Besides, if the 120gb model isn’t big enough you can always get a bigger HDD in the future and exchange it with the one already in your PS3.
About on what HDTV to get:
A 32 inch is okay, but it really depends on how far you sit from the tv, and how big your room is? If you plan to sit about 5-8 feet away, than the 720p tv will be perfect. The closer you sit to the tv, the worse the graphics will look, so try and sit not to close to the tv, but not to far neither. Yes most games on the PS3 are Native to 720p. In fact, the graphics will look better in 720p than 1080p because the games are meant to be played in 720p. The first game that comes to mind being native to 1080p is God of War 3(Comes out in March of 2010)
