Because of your willingness to share, It’s enabled me to repair three of my computer monitors and a 42″ Philips plasma TV. @KGBALLER50 The back light consists of very small fluorescent lights, and the inverter board provides the high voltage to power them.
Is a backlight and inverter board the same thing or they are two different pieces
@KGBALLER50 If your in a dark room and you can see a quick flash of light on the screen when you turn it on that’s a clue its probably the inverter board, but I can’t tell you for certain with out doing some tests.
I have a LCD TV LG that the sound works but the picture went black its not cracked just a black screen with sound. what do you think the problem is i really need help

@PlymouthVT
I heard that Dick Smith quit advertising them but
I noticed there is an aftermarket Dick Smith ESR meter advertised for around a hundred bucks in one of my catalogs. Hopefully its just as good. Thanks again.
Hi, yes I have owned the one you have and another one MCM sells but found the Smith meter the best for ESR and low ohm measure. Very accurate. Most important bench tool I own and have had the Dick Smith since 1985.
@PlymouthVT
Thanks for the info. In what order would you rate the various cap checkers? I was told the Blue ESR meter is also good for measuring low ohms.
I’ve had the meter Dave is using and in fact have owned them all and found Dick Smith’s ESR Meter is the best. Comes in kit or premade.Much more accurate then the one Dave’s using.Google it.
big respect & up to you grant ,you should repair car dash boards also brother.many thanx & helpful
I’m wondering if anyone else has had failures from fungus growing in the flux? I’m becoming overwhelmed from the workload this is causing removing flux 97% cure rate
@impagd
I think Element is made by Proview. You might start by looking at the numbers on the board and see if you can find a cross over on the internet.
I wondering if you could tell me I can get an inverter for an Element LCD model FLX1910. I have looked on the web. unable to locate. or if there is one that is compatible
@liberal411 Sorry but I can’t guess at this kind of thing.
I would need to do some tests.

I have a Magnavox 37 HD LCD and when the Tv went out I replaced the 2200uf cap and it worked. 6 months later poof another cap went( I thought) and replaced the 1200uf cap and this time the Tv still won’t power up. Any help would be greatful!
Thanks for the info. A couple of items I use to help with TV repair besides DMM and testers are a product called Stabilant 22A which is a liquid contact conductivity enhancer good for restoring oxidized connector contacts and I make my own antistatic spray by putting unscented concentrated fabric softener with water in a spray bottle and spray it on a soft rag. I find it makes dried out plastic housings look better and repels dust.
I use the cap analizer 88. I don’t know if its the best, but I’m pretty happy with it.
What brand of capacitor meter do you use? Thanks.
That’s a difficult question to answer since I can’t predict how long its going to last if you do get it fixed. As a general rule LCD TVs don’t have a great track record.
Ok thanks for the help! I have located a Tv repairman and he says it would cost me around 150 bucks to fix, does that seem like a good deal or not? I am just wondering if i should try to fix it or just buy a new tv!
Check for bad capacitors in the power supply and bad transformers and or mosfets on the inverter board.
