I have a samsung LNS4695D LCD. I connected a component cable from LCD to receiver and all I get is black and white picture.

Unplug your component cables, clean the terminals (use a cloth moistened with absolute alcohol), let them dry and plug it in again properly keeping the colour coding in mind. See that the plugs are all the way in and secure. If this doesn’t help, check with another component cable. This seems like a problem with your connection.
