How can a LCD monitor be hooked up to a computer?

I am hearing two different things. I hear that it can be hooked up via VGA connection of DVI – HDMI. Or something like that. I plan on using either a 720p or 1080p LCD TV and was wondering what are these hookups exactly and which is the right one for that matter?

The first step is seeing what ports your computer has. If it’s a brand new computer it might have a HDMI port. HDMI is the best way IMO. HDMI is the only capable way to get a full 720 p or 1080 p picture by the way.
I have mine duct taped right to the side.
Well you need to figure out what you are going to do with the monitor after you get it hooked up. If you are planning on a gaming computer, or a HTPC, then you might as well buy a graphics card.
